Music is the universal language of mankind.
– Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Chime In! is a local community chime ensemble from Provo, Utah. Our purpose is to create unity in our community through the music of our chimes. As Henry Wadsworth Longfellow once said, music is the universal language of mankind. No matter who you are, what ethnic background you share, or what rung you reach on the social ladder, music moves you. Music has the power to lift, to heal, but most importantly, to unite.

Chime In! unites our community by providing a wide variety of music from soothing religious and classical pieces to lively popular movie themes. There is something for everyone in our music and the unique sound of the chimes are sure to attract the whole family. Join us and learn for yourself how music unites our community. What are you waiting for? Chime In!

Handchimes are a unique instrument. They look like a tuning fork, play like a hand bell, and sound like a music box. Their tone is much more mellow than the tinkling sound of hand bells which is one of the reasons we like them. Hand chimes are a great experience for anyone regardless of age or musical background because little formal musical training is required to play.

Why Handchimes?

By nature, handchimes are one of the best instruments for creating unity. Even in a choir or an orchestra, each person plays an individual instrument that can be played in solo or in a group. With chimes, each performer does not play their own instrument. All must work together to collectively play one large instrument. Think of it as eleven people all playing the same piano and each person being assigned to play only two keys. Each player must trust and rely on one another in order for the music to work. That is exactly how chimes are played. Chimes are the best example I know of unity through music and participation in a chimes choir not only helps strengthen your musical talents, but creates lasting bonds of friendship.
